Inspecting the Solar Hot Water System at The Healing Place!
The solar thermal system at The Healing Place of Wake County is now up and running! So I decided to pay it a visit and see how it’s doing. I was pleased to see a fair amount of solar energy had been collected and stored over the past several days even though the weather had been cloudy and the days short.
This non-pressurized solar hot water system is comprised of 48 solar thermal collectors plumbed to a 2000 gallon Fluid Handling System and will supply nearly half of the facility’s hot water needs over the course of each year. This project represents one of the most recent ‘third-party’ financed deals created by Holocene Development. Under this arrangement, The Healing Place was not required to provide the initial capital for the installation. Holocene will own and operate the system, selling the energy to The Healing Place. This type of financing model is ideal for not-for-profit entities and we expect to see more deals like this in 2012.
